Pregnancy or breastfeeding: azithromycin is the most effective option. (Tetracycline contra-indicated)
Due to lower cure rate in pregnancy, test for cure 4 weeks after treatment.
Rectal Chlamydia – LGV infection should be considered – discuss with sexual health
Test of cure is important in rectal Chlamydia
Followed by 500mg OD for 2 days
Pregnant or breastfeeding:
1g (off-label use)
Followed by 500mg od for 2 days
(for rectal Chlamydia)
7 days if LGV excluded
21 days otherwise
