First line

Therapy

Amoxicillin IV for 5-10 days

Notes:

Consider IV to oral switch when afebrile > 24 hours and clinically improving

Second line: mild intolerance or mild skin reaction

Therapy

Cefotaxime IV for 5-10 days

Notes:

Consider IV to oral switch when afebrile > 24 hours and clinically improving

Anaphylaxis (including severe skin reactions) to penicillin / cephalosporins

Therapy

Vancomycin IV +Ciprofloxacin IV/PO

5-10 days
