Micro Organisms

Suspected pathogens:

  • PVL-producing Staph aureus
  • Group A Strep
  • Klebsiella pneumonia
  • TB

Notes

Treat as CURB 65 Score  ≥3 empirically. 

If MRSA history or suspected - ADD Vancomycin IV (dose as per policy)

Consider possibility of TB - send 3x sputum samples for AFB microscopy and TB culture if suspicious history/radiology (e.g. protracted resp symptoms, fevers, night sweats, weight loss, upper lobe changes, lymphadenopathy)
