Pneumonia post influenza

Duration

5 days initially and review

Pneumonia post influenza- non-severe

Therapy

Co-Amoxiclav oral 625mg  8 hourly

or, if IV needed: Co-Amoxiclav IV 1.2g 8 hourly

 

If penicillin allergy

Clarithromycin oral 500mg 12 hourly

or, if IV needed: Clarithromycin IV 500mg 12 hourly

Pneumonia, post influenza -severe

Therapy

Co-Amoxiclav 1.2g IV 8 hourly

+

Clarithromycin 500mg IV 12 hourly 

If Penicillin allergy discuss with Consultant Microbiologist
